Taking electrification to new sectors

In addition to continued direct electrification of heating and transports, there is great potential to leverage indirect electrification to reduce emissions from the largest emitting industry sectors. Read more about our industrial partnerships.


Together with our partners we have the potential to reduce Sweden’s total CO2 emissions by 30%. Assuming the solutions can be exported to other parts of Europe and globally, the potential is great. Based on existing technology, new sectors should be in the pipeline. For example plastics and chemicals, where the polymers that are used to make everything from plastic materials to carbon fiber can be made from green hydrogen (made from electricity and water) and carbon dioxide, meaning that the process captures rather than releases CO2. In the agricultural sector, in addition to the electrification of vehicles and decarbonization of energy systems, the re-electrification of artificial fertilizer production carries great potential.
