Clashindarroch Wind Farm
Clashindarroch is an 18 turbine onshore wind farm located near Huntly in Aberdeenshire.
Construction of this £62 million project completed early in 2015 with the opening ceremony held in June. Clashindarroch’s 18 x 2.05MW turbines give the wind farm a total installed capacity of 36.9MW and an estimated annual production output of 114,469 MWh – the equivalent of the energy required to power 27,000 homes per annum, or enough to make 4 billion cups of tea!
The project provides a Community Fund of £185,000 per annum for the life of the project, which is managed by Foundation Scotland.
Visit Foundation Scotland's website for more information on the fund here.
Our team worked with community groups and local schools on various different initiatives throughout development and construction. Vattenfall invited children from Rhynie, Glass and Gordon Primary Schools along with The Really Cool Club to find names for all of the 18 turbines at Clashindarroch Wind Farm. We also put together a number of information packs and even filmed a video during construction to give residents and the local community a greater understanding of how we develop, build and operate our wind farms.
