Vattenfall outsources parts of IT operations

Vattenfall has signed a five-year contract outsourcing IT network services and workplace management to Computer Sciences Corporation, CSC – improving operational efficiency and facilitating IT services development.

CSC will build and support network services and a virtualized next-generation IT workplace environment for approximately 30.000 Vattenfall employees in seven countries. The contract was signed on 30 March and is valid for five years with an option for a two-year extension.

“Using the IT services market is a step for Vattenfall that fits well with our strategy to become more flexible and focus on core business, whilst at the same time ensuring a high level of service and security. Outsourcing will also facilitate our IT service development”, says Claes Wallnér, Vattenfall CIO and Head of IT.

CSC has been selected as the service provider after a tender process carried out according to European regulations. As part of agreement 122 Vattenfall employees mainly in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands will be transferred to CSC and its partner AT&T.

The agreement is valid as of 1 April 2015.
