We're all trapped in a system that's addicted to fossil fuels. At Vattenfall we're helping society break free from this dependency. We're committed to building a future where everyone can choose fossil free ways to move, make and live. We call it fossil freedom.

CO2 emissions intensity

The graph shows the evolution of Vattenfall's own emissions intensity over time, as well as our commitment to reduce emissions in the future. As a result of the divestment of the Berlin heat business, the values based on the reference year 2017 are currently being updated.

CO2 roadmap

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. A great deal of effort is put into limiting the global warming further to 1.5 degrees.

Meeting this goal means greenhouse gas emissions need to be roughly halved by 2030 and to achieve net zero by the second half of the century.*
