Celebrating Inclusion: Vattenfall Disability Day and a Year of DEI Progress

Vattenfall marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, reaffirming its commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). This year’s Vattenfall Disability Day featured inspiring digital expert sessions. As a special holidays gift, the DEI Office also invited employees to a lecture on self-care. 2025 was a year of progress for DEI.

Vattenfall Disability Day

"International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity for Vattenfall to emphasise its commitment to fostering disability inclusion, ensuring equity and fairness in the workplace. Inclusion and accessibility are fundamental to the way we experience work at Vattenfall. By recognising barriers and sharing practical strategies, we aim to create an environment where every voice is heard and every ability valued - contributing to social progress and shaping a sustainable, fossil free future for all." – Stephanie Hinton-James, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Disability inclusion is about progress, not perfection. This year’s digital programme with 4 expert speaker sessions gave employees the confidence to better support colleagues and friends with disabilities. The topics ranged from allyship and disability-confident leadership to neurodiversity and hearing disability in the workplace.

Looking back and moving forward

2025 brought real progress: from digital speaker sessions and supporting employees with education and tools to marching in Pride parades and advancing inclusion. Vattenfall has climbing up the Financial Times–Statista European Diversity Leaders ranking - a recognition of the progress made, the Diverse Energy Networks (ERGs) and all employees who have worked tirelessly on driving inclusion this year. Inspired by these achievements, Vattenfall will keep building an inclusive workplace for all and continue embedding DEI into all processes, policies and systems at the company in 2026.

As a thank-you for the great efforts in building an inclusive future and to support all employees’ well-being, Vattenfall offered a special digital speaker session on self-care before the holiday season. This was an opportunity to recharge and reflect on all the progress made in the past year to drive inclusion forward.
