Vattenfall Business Area Wind maintains leader status in IRBC assessment

Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind has once again been recognised as a Leader in the IRBC assessment, reflecting continued progress in responsible and sustainable business practices.

Vattenfall’s Business Area Wind has maintained its position in the Leader category of the International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector and further improved its assessment performance. The result confirms the organisation’s commitment to responsible business conduct and sustainable renewable energy value chains.

“Maintaining our position in the Leader category while further improving our assessment result demonstrates our commitment to embed responsible business conduct in how we develop and deliver renewable energy. The transition to fossil-free energy must be fair and inclusive, and collaboration through the IRBC Agreement is essential to achieving that ambition”, says Eva Julius-Philipp, Director of Environment and Sustainability at Business Area Wind at Vattenfall.

For Vattenfall, social sustainability is a key part of delivering a successful energy transition. As renewable energy value chains become increasingly global and complex, the company believes that climate ambitions must go hand in hand with respect for people, communities, employees and other stakeholders.

Across its wind, solar and battery business units, Business Area Wind applies human rights due diligence, supplier assessments, audits and stakeholder engagement processes to identify, prevent and address potential impacts on people and the environment throughout project lifecycles and supply chains.

Participation in the IRBC agreement is an important part of this work. The initiative strengthens risk-based due diligence and collective action across the renewable energy sector. It helps participants to address shared challenges, including worker welfare, supply chain transparency and responsible sourcing. Vattenfall believes that many of these challenges can only be addressed more meaningful through collaboration across industries and stakeholder groups.
