In Berlin the pride parade is known as Christopher Street Day and attracts hundreds of thousands of people, celebrating peacefully and happily together. This year’s slogan is "Together we take a stand! Democracy needs Diversity!”
Vattenfall was again represented with its own truck in the parade on 27 July.

Leon Martin Giese, one of the participants from Vattenfall’s Berlin office said:

"In the midst of global and national uncertainties and imminent risk of restrictions in several countries and areas for the rights of the LGTQIA+ community, the CSD 2024 in Berlin was a strong sign for tolerance, diversity and democracy. The feeling of standing up for these values and an inclusive world together with countless other people gives an incredible amount of strength and confidence for the future.”

In Amsterdam Vattenfall employees sailed on its Vattenfall Pride Boat, through the Amsterdam canals during the Canal Parade on 3 August, as part of the Amsterdam Pride. Hundreds of thousands visitors from all over the world joined in under the motto “Celebrating together for the freedom to be me.”

Carlina Velzel-Rollan, Commercial Coordinator at Vattenfall in the Netherlands said:

“By being part of and dancing along at Canal Pride as a woman of colour, I am speaking out against unfair treatment. You are 100 percent beautiful the way you are. During Pride Amsterdam, I saw so many beautiful people celebrating together who are allowed to be themselves and that should always be the case, for everyone! I danced for all the people, our customers, the people who work with us, for us and see us”.

Thousands of people also celebrated in Hamburg on 3 August. “5 to 12! You & I against right-wing pressure" was the motto of this year's Hamburg Pride Parade.

Armine Hosseinian from Vattenfall’s People & Culture team was one of the employees on on Vattenfall’s truck:

"The atmosphere at the Christopher Street Day in Hamburg was totally peaceful and full of love. In today's world, events like CSD are more crucial than ever. They remind us of the ongoing struggle for equality and the importance of standing together against discrimination towards a more inclusive society."

Later in August and September Vattenfall will participate in Pride activities around Sweden and also in Katowice, Poland, to show support for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion.

Vattenfall’s Pride activities are arranged by Vattenfall’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team, together with the company’s internal Diverse Energy Network.
