Vattenfall Women in Energy Week 2025: Accelerating action for gender equality

International Women’s Day, 8 March, is more than just a celebration — it is a global call to action. This year, Vattenfall emphasises the urgency of accelerated efforts to drive fairness and equal opportunity for women in the workplace. Employees can various events during the week leading up to International Women’s Day. Members of the Women in Energy LinkedIn community, an external Vattenfall-led network, will receive access to a day of curated expert sessions. Vattenfall Women in Energy Week will be a time to reflect on progress, acknowledge challenges and commit to tangible change in both personal and professional spheres. 

 

How Vattenfall engages “Women in Energy” through its external network?

The Vattenfall Women in Energy Network has grown to over 2,000 active members, emphasising the importance of community that connects female professionals in the energy industry. Our target audience includes women from a broad spectrum of backgrounds — students, young professionals and senior executives who are either working in or are interested in opportunities in the energy sector. 
 
Our community is comprised of 34% of Vattenfall employees and 66% of externals (Status September 2024) and provides a supportive environment, networking and educational opportunities for female professionals. Our aim is to promote women's contributions in the sector through a schedule of in-person and online events, fostering connections and discussions on energy, career development as well as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

At Vattenfall, we are proud of our progress towards greater female representation at all levels of our organization. Our commitment to equal pay, equal opportunity and equal leadership by 2030 remains steadfast, as does our 40% Female Manager Hires KPI. Since signing the Equal by 30 initiative in 2018, Vattenfall has actively committed to the cause of growing the representation of women in the energy sector. Female representation in leadership has increased from 24% in 2018 to 34% in 2024, and we are proud to have four out of nine executive board members, including our CEO, as women.

Vattenfall Women in Energy Week: 3 - 7 March 2025

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, the Vattenfall Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Office is hosting Vattenfall Women in Energy Week. The week will feature a variety of online sessions, inspiring reads and more. All employees are explicitly invited, as full inclusion can only be achieved together. By joining the Women in Energy LinkedIn group, externals can receive access to a day of curated expert sessions about women and neurodiversity in the workplace, AI and inclusion or emotional intelligence among other topics.

This is an occasion not only to celebrate the contributions of women, but it's also an opportunity to accelerate action in making workplaces more inclusive for women by addressing barriers to their success and well-being as well as by raising awareness on topics such as women’s rights, gender equality and gender pay gap equity. We know our diversity makes us stronger, more innovative and ultimately more successful,” says Stephanie Hinton-James, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
