Vattenfall appoints Anja Graf as new Head of Nuclear Decommissioning Germany

Anja Graf has been appointed as Vice President, Business Unit Nuclear Decommissioning Germany, and Managing Director for Vattenfall Europe Nuclear (VENE) at Vattenfall and will assume the position on August 1st 2026.

Anja Graf, new Head of Nuclear Decommissioning Germany

Anja Graf is presently the CEO of Gesellschaft für nukleares Reststoffrecycling mbH (GNR), which is part of the EnBW Group and specializes in the processing of contaminated waste materials from the dismantling of EnBW nuclear power plants. Anja has held the CEO position for the last five years and has extensive experience from the nuclear industry spanning more than 25 years including several managerial positions.

“For me taking on this new role feels very exciting and I have of course knowledge of Vattenfall as an industry peer. Even though I have enjoyed every day of my job at GNR, it feels like a natural next step in my career to take on the responsibility for two large scale decommissioning and dismantling projects. I also look forward to meeting and working with all the new colleagues in Germany as well as in Sweden,” says Anja Graf who points out that leadership is a matter of people, not technology, also in the nuclear industry.

“I am truly excited to welcome Anja onboard to Vattenfall and to the Business Area Generation management team, says Johan Dasht,” Senior Vice President Vattenfall Business Area Generation. “Anja will contribute with her professional qualifications as well as her leadership qualities into her new role and will lead and develop the work within our German nuclear decommissioning to next level together with her new colleagues.”

As has been communicated earlier, Nicolai Wendland will step in as Acting Business Unit Head from April 1st until the time when Anja Graf starts in her new position.
