Alexander van Ofwegen new Senior Vice President and Head of Business Areas Customers & Solutions and Heat at Vattenfall

Alexander van Ofwegen has been appointed as the new Senior Vice President and Head of Business Areas Customers & Solutions and Heat at Vattenfall. He succeeds Martijn Hagens, who was recently appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Markets per January 1, 2024. This is also the date that Van Ofwegen will start in his new role.

Alexander van Ofwegen has a long-standing career at Vattenfall, with experience in different management roles in the organisation since joining in 2001. Van Ofwegen has a background in mechanical engineering and financial management. Currently he is Head of Business Unit Heat in the Netherlands. He is also Finance Director of Vattenfall N.V. Netherlands.

"I’m very happy that Alexander will take on this new role. He has extensive knowledge of our organization, and he understands the heat business and its challenges very well - the technical aspects as well as the customer perspective, which will be key in successfully leading both business areas. With his constructive leadership style, he will guide business areas Customers & Solutions and Heat into the next phase of collaboration”, says Anna Borg, Vattenfall’s CEO.

"These times of high energy prices and fossil fuel dependence underline the importance of taking good care of our customers with sustainable and affordable energy solutions for their homes and businesses. I’m looking forward to the challenge for me and the leadership team of Customers & Solutions and Heat to manage the decarbonization of both the heat supply as well the energy consumption of our customers”, says Alexander van Ofwegen.

Alexander van Ofwegen will report to Vattenfall’s CEO Anna Borg, be a member of the Executive Group Management team and he will remain Finance Director of Vattenfall N.V. Netherlands. The process for Van Ofwegen’s succession has started.
