Biodiversity projects

Biodiversity is an integral part of the way we work at Vattenfall. We believe that the energy transition must be nature inclusive.

Therefore, we strive to minimise biodiversity loss, enhance ecosystems wherever possible, and invest in research and development. Following examples highlights the practical measures we have implemented to uphold these commitments.

The Biotest Lake – a unique place

The water is 10 degrees above average all year round. The temperature difference, due to the heated cooling water from the nuclear power plant in Forsmark, enables researchers to study how climate change affects the marine environment.
