Our environmental responsibility

To meet the unprecedented challenges we are facing, acceleration is needed. At Vattenfall we are ready to do our part.

Good environmental performance is fundamental for the success of our business and environmental aspects are managed as an integrated part of our business.

We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint, with a focus on climate, biodiversity and the application of circular economy principles. We believe that continuous improvement of environmental performance is a prerequisite for sound business development, and environmental considerations are part of our daily operations.

Environmental policy

Our environmental policy is valid throughout the entire Vattenfall Group and provides the basis for the environmental management system.

Environmental governance

Effective governance structures and management systems are essential to ensure that environmental policies and practices are implemented consistently and effectively.

To steer how we work to meet our policy commitments, we have developed an internal environmental action plan, which is used to track progress against targets and key activities.

Principles and minimum requirements for climate, biodiversity and circularity are also outlined in our environmental management system. Almost 100 % of our energy production sites also have certified environmental management systems, which is important for ensuring legal compliance and continuous improvement.

Biodiversity

We are committed to protecting and enhancing biodiversity across our operations.

Circularity

Circularity is essential to securing future resource needs, reducing costs, and achieving our sustainability targets.
