Vattenfall Diversity Month: We are part of something bigger

Vattenfall is celebrating diversity month because we are part of something bigger: This month is not just an internal celebration. It is part of a broader EU initiative that brings together companies and organisations across Europe to highlight the value of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace. Through specially curated internal expert sessions, Vattenfall will spotlight different dimensions of diversity.

At Vattenfall, we have an incredible mix of different nationalities and backgrounds that shape our organisation. Our differences are not just part of who we are. They are key to how we grow, innovate and succeed together. Currently, our people represent 88 known nationalities, bringing all their knowledge and unique perspectives that enrich our workplace.

Expertise knows no borders. Organisations are therefore embracing difference and searching for talent from different backgrounds, to ensure they have a competitive advantage. Vattenfall in Sweden is a case in point, by supporting individuals with non-national backgrounds through collaborations with Mitt Liv and Jobbsprånget. On the one hand, Vattenfall employees act as mentors in the navigation of the Swedish labour market. On the other hand, Vattenfall offers internships to newly arrived, highly skilled workers. Today, Vattenfall proudly employs a breadth of people who have come in through this programme.

Stephanie Hinton-James, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: “Real progress happens when everyone feels seen, heard and understood. This month, we are putting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in full focus — as a catalyst for ground-breaking ideas, stronger collaboration and meaningful change. We know that DEI is a key driver of innovation and long-term commercial success. DEI is a strong movement within Vattenfall, and we’re proud of the collective efforts that have brought us to where we are today. Our continued progress depends on building teams that reflect the world around us and on creating opportunities for our people to contribute fully with their unique skills and perspectives. A series of expert sessions in May will create spaces to listen, learn and grow because diverse perspectives aren’t just welcomed at Vattenfall; they’re essential to achieving our goals.”
