Out of 90,000 companies – Vattenfall one of the best in sustainability

Vattenfall has once again been awarded the Platinum rating from EcoVadis, one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings. The 2026 result marks the sixth consecutive year that Vattenfall receives this top distinction, placing the company among the top 1 percent of almost 90,000 companies assessed worldwide.

The EcoVadis assessment evaluates companies across four categories: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Platinum is the highest possible rating and is awarded only to companies with outstanding results across all themes.

“Receiving EcoVadis’ highest rating for the sixth year in a row is an achievement we can all be proud of,” says Annika Ramsköld, Head of Sustainability at Vattenfall. “It reflects the commitment of colleagues across the company and the work being done every day to turn sustainability ambitions into concrete actions, processes and results.”

The 2026 assessment shows that Vattenfall’s overall EcoVadis score improved from 83/100 to 86/100, allowing the company to retain its position among the top 1 percent of assessed companies, despite a higher threshold for top performance. Vattenfall achieved particularly strong results in Environment, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement, while also improving its score in Labour & Human Rights.

Sustainability is at the core of Vattenfall’s business strategy, and the company’s approach is aligned with international frameworks such as the UN Global Compact, UN Sustainable Development Goals and OECD Guidelines. This includes taking responsibility not only for its own operations, but also for the full value chain – from suppliers and subcontractors to customers and partners.

“This recognition is an important external confirmation of the strength of our sustainability work,” says Ramsköld. “It also comes at a time when sustainability ambitions are increasingly being questioned. Our experience shows that it is not only the right direction from an environmental and human rights perspective, but also a sound strategic choice for the company.”
