Vattenfall’s UK Legal Team named as the UK Energy Team of the Year

Vattenfall’s legal team in the UK, has been ranked by Lawyers Worldwide, a global legal news publication, as UK Energy Team of the Year.

The team, led by Sandra Leece, was recognised for their outstanding contribution over many years supporting vital energy projects.

The award is an annual review of in-house legal teams and teams in law firms who have excelled and exceeded expectation in their area.

Nominations were received for those that are the best within their area.  Voting took place and the votes assessed with winners selected due to their experience and knowledge of the industry.

As the energy industry has continued its rapid expansion, so the legal expertise available to the sector has been significantly enhanced.  This year’s awards is all the more impressive given the number of energy teams in the UK and demonstrates the impact that Sandra and her team have in this industry.

This new recognition comes off the back of success last year for Sandra who was named for the second year running as UK Energy Lawyer of the Year and one of the most influential people in the global wind energy industry by ‘A Word About Wind’ in the Legal Power List.

Sandra Leece, Director of Legal UK at Vattenfall, said:

“I am delighted that my super legal team has been recognised for the hard work and dedication that it has shown over the years, working on really exciting energy projects from onshore and offshore wind farms, solar farms, battery storage, electricity networks and district heating for Vattenfall.

“We are focused on delivering great projects of such importance in the fight against climate change.  Being given this recognition is a reflection of all our hard work and Vattenfall’s commitment to delivering fossil freedom.”

Jonas Bengtsson, General Counsel at Vattenfall, said:

“We are so proud and happy to have Sandra lead Vattenfall’s outstanding UK legal team.  The legal skills, dedication and hard work that Sandra and her team have demonstrated are fundamental to the success of the many top level sustainable energy projects we have in the UK.”

Claus Wattendrup, Vattenfall’s UK Country Manager said:

“This award recognises our outstanding legal team who are integral to Vattenfall’s continued success in the UK. The award is a testament to the exceptional value that Sandra and her team bring to our important UK projects.”
