Vattenfall unveils plans for new Nottinghamshire wind farm
- Plans at an early stage for Everton Carr Wind Farm
- Up to 16 turbines with a generating capacity of 112 MW
- Enough electricity to power 100,000 homes each year
- Early consultation and environmental studies will help inform the project design
Vattenfall is exploring plans for a new onshore wind farm near the villages of Misson and Gringley-on-the-Hill in Nottinghamshire, with up to 16 turbines and a potential generating capacity of 112 megawatts (MW).
If approved, Everton Carr Wind Farm could generate enough electricity to power up to 100,000 homes annually*. Increasing the supply of onshore wind would help to contribute towards achieving the UK’s renewable energy targets and national energy security at a time of both rising energy bills and the increasing urgency to tackle the climate emergency.
The project is in the very early stages of design. Vattenfall will carry out environmental and technical studies to inform the design and environmental considerations.
Targeted workshops are being held next month in which technical stakeholders, elected representatives and Parish Councillors will be invited to provide early technical input into the current design and help build understanding of local sensitivities. Local communities and other stakeholders will also have opportunities to provide feedback during our in-person consultation planned for early next year, with this feedback helping to inform the developing proposal.
Everton Carr Wind Farm could also create opportunities for local businesses during construction and operation, including through employment, supply chain contracts and associated spending in the local economy.
Lucy Blake, Vattenfall’s Project Manager for Everton Carr, said:
“Everton Carr Wind Farm is at an early stage, and local feedback, alongside technical and environmental studies, will help shape the proposals as they develop. We want local knowledge and views to inform the project from the outset.
"Cheaper, more secure electricity for the UK means generating more of our own power. Everton Carr could play an important role in the UK’s energy future while also offering local jobs, economic investment, and environmental regeneration.”
