Vattenfall responds to Government plans to speed up development of energy infrastructure

Read Vattenfall's comments for onshore and offshore wind below.

Onshore Wind

Frank Elsworth, Vattenfall’s Head of UK Onshore Development, said:

“It’s great that Government is taking steps to bring onshore consenting rules in line with other infrastructure, giving the opportunity to unlock greater levels of onshore wind in the most appropriate locations. Onshore wind is one of the lowest cost options for tackling the climate emergency, whilst bringing benefits for supply chain and local communities.”

Offshore Wind

Danielle Lane, UK Country Manager said:

“It’s great that government’s taking steps to reform the offshore wind planning process which will accelerate the renewables projects, like the Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind farm, required to help keep bills down for customers while also breaking the UK’s reliance on expensive gas.”

Notes to editors

Norfolk Vanguard is part of the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone which will generate enough low-cost, clean electricity to power more than four million homes.
