New contract signed with SeAH Wind to provide monopiles for Norfolk Vanguard Wind Farms

Vattenfall has today signed a contract with SeAH Wind to provide the monopiles for the Norfolk Vanguard East and Norfolk Vanguard West Wind Farms – part of the overall Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone.

Monopiles are the most commonly used foundation for offshore wind turbines. The monopiles for the Norfolk Vanguard Wind Farms will weigh up to around 2200 tons and have a length of up to 96m. Production is due to start in 2026 at SeAH’s new factory in Teesside. 

Catrin Jung, Head of Offshore Wind at Vattenfall, said:

We are delighted to be working with SeAH Wind who will be providing the monopiles for Norfolk Vanguard East and West Wind Farms. These projects are vital for net zero and providing customers with a low carbon energy system.

Seong-Hwal Son, CEO of SeAH Wind Ltd., said,

This large-scale order serves as an opportunity to prove SeAH’s offshore wind power substructure manufacturing technology and competitiveness in the global offshore wind power industry. With the production plant being built in the UK as the anchor, we aim to become the largest offshore wind power substructure manufacturer in the world.
