We are one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the UK. The group has approximately 19,000 employees.

The Parent Company, Vattenfall AB, is 100% owned by the Swedish state, and its headquarters are in Solna, Sweden. Vattenfall also has offices in Finland, France, Norway, Poland, and Belgium.

Sweden

Vattenfall is Sweden's second-largest energy company and was founded in 1909. Initially, our operations consisted of electricity production through hydro power, but over the years we has expanded to include electricity production from nuclear power and wind power.

We own and operate approximately 139,000 km of power lines and has about 900,000 customers in Sweden. Vattenfall is also the largest owner and operator of regional power grids and one of the three largest owners of local power grids in Sweden.

Stockholm

Germany

Vattenfall is a key player in the German energy market, focusing on renewable energy and sustainability. The company serves customers across electricity, heat, and gas sectors.

We are committed to the German energy transition and operate in offshore wind, hydro power, power partnerships with the industry as well as energy trading, with ongoing projects in solar and onshore wind.

Additionally, Vattenfall's strategy includes expanding our e-mobility infrastructure and collaborating with local installation companies to bring the energy and heating transition to the people.

The Netherlands

In the Netherlands, Vattenfall produces and supplies heat and electricity to more than 1.9 million customers, including households, SMEs and large companies. Our production is based on many different energy sources, such as wind, solar, hydro and natural gas. With a focus on reducing dependence on fossil fuels, we are investing in sustainable energy production, making our existing energy sources more sustainable, and energy storage. We also help our customers to save energy and we promote electric driving through partnerships and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Denmark

Vattenfall is Denmark's largest operator of offshore wind power. We operate the offshore wind farms Horns Rev 1 and 3 as well as Kriegers Flak and opened Vesterhav North and South in the autumn of 2024. The parks have service ports in Esbjerg, Hvide Sande, and Klintholm, while Vattenfall's international control centre and central warehouse are located at the port of Esbjerg.

In addition to offshore wind, we operate a few onshore wind farms in Denmark. We employ approximately 500 staff in Denmark, and our headquarters is in Kolding. We also have offices in Esbjerg, Copenhagen, and Aalborg.

Copenhagen

United Kingdom

For over 15 years, Vattenfall has been a key player in the UK's renewable energy sector. With a dedicated team of around 500 employees, we have expanded our wind and battery storage operations from a single project in 2008 to 13 projects today.

Our heat business collaborates with developers, local authorities, and housing associations to advance the transition to low-carbon heating, with significant initiatives in London, Edinburgh, and Bristol.

Additionally, Vattenfall IDNO specializes in providing electrical grid connections for large-scale commercial projects.

Finland

Vattenfall has been operating in Finland for over 30 years. We are one of the country's biggest electricity companies, providing electricity to both businesses and private customers. Vattenfall owns 9 hydro power plants in Finland.

In addition, we are currently developing an industrial-scale offshore wind farm in Korsnäs near Vaasa. This supports Finland's goal to be carbon neutral by 2035 and significantly improves Finland's energy self-sufficiency.

Together with our partners, Vattenfall is building a future where everyone can choose fossil-free ways to move, make and live.

France

Vattenfall has been supplying energy to professionals (large accounts, SMEs, very small businesses, and craftsmen) in France since 2000 and to individuals since 2018.

In 2020, Vattenfall reached the symbolic milestone of 10,000 business customers and over 100,000 private customers. Thanks to these figures, we are well on the way to achieving our goal of becoming one of the top 5 energy suppliers in the country. Vattenfall also aims to develop its own renewable energy production capacity in France, particularly in offshore wind.
