Organisation
Vattenfall consists of five Business Areas organised in four operating segments:
- Operating Segment and Business Area Customers & Solutions
- Operating Segment and Business Area Wind
- Operating Segment Power Generation consisting of Business Area Generation and Business Area Markets
- Operating Segment and Business Area Distribution
The Electricity Distribution Operators are legally unbundled and separated from Vattenfall’s other operations.
Centralised Staff functions are supporting and steering the business:
- Staff Function CFO functions
- Staff Function Strategic Development
- Staff Function Communications
- Staff Function Legal, Corporate Security & Resilience
- Staff Function People & Culture
The CEO, Anna Borg, is responsible towards the Board for the operations of Vattenfall. Subsequently, the CEO has delegated various responsibilities to the Heads of the Business Areas and the Heads of the Corporate Staff functions.
1) Vattenfall’s electricity distribution operations are unbundled from other operations, in accordance with Swedish legislation.

Customers & Solutions
The Customers & Solutions segment is responsible for sales of electricity, heat, gas, energy services, and e-mobility charging solutions. Heat operations include district heating and gas-fired power plants.

Power Generation
Comprises the Generation and Markets Business Areas. Responsible for hydro and nuclear power operations as well as optimisation and trading operations, including certain large business customers.

Wind
The Wind segment is responsible for development, construction and operation of Vattenfall’s wind farms as well as large-scale solar power plants and batteries.

Distribution
The Distribution segment consists of Vattenfall’s electricity distribution operations as well as Vattenfall’s Power-as-a-Service offering and maintenance service business.
